Diálogo

John

So, tell me about your last job.

Cristina

Well, last summer I was working as a waitress in an Italian restaurant.

John

  Did you like it?

Cristina

I enjoyed working with people. I would chat with the customers and I got some great tips, but then my boss got angry at me.

John

  What happened?

Cristina

He said that I wasn’t serving the food quick enough. I tried to work more quickly but I wasn’t as fast as the other servers. At the end of the summer he told me that he couldn’t renew my contract.

John

Oh, that’s too bad. Well, what other work have you done?

Cristina

I worked as a receptionist in a gym a few years ago.

John

What did you like about that job?

Cristina

The environment at the gym was good, but I didn’t really like working at a desk.

John

You had to answer phone calls, didn’t you?

Cristina

Yes, that part was okay, but I didn’t like filing and all the paperwork.

John

Let’s look at this website to see what job ads there are.

Cristina

  Okay, great idea!

John

Here is a position as a secretary in a school. This position involves meetings, maintaining office supplies and some filing.

Cristina

  I don’t know. I don’t like office work.

John

Here is another one. This is a shop assistant position.

Cristina

I’m interested in that one! I worked in a clothing shop one summer. I really enjoyed it!

John

Do you want to send your c.v.?

Cristina

Yes, but I need to update it first.

John

  I can help you.

Cristina

  Thank you. How’s your job?

John

Pretty good. My dad is a designer and I’ve always been interested in art and design. I studied graphic design at university. Now I’m working at a graphic design firm.

Cristina

  That’s fantastic!

John

I’m only in my 3rd month there so I mostly do filing and administrative tasks, but in 6 months I will be designing some projects.
