Why doesn't Henry like the hotel room? Read the following dialogue and learn vocabulary words and expressions related to reservations and staying at a hotel.

Introduction

Henry and his family have arrived at the hotel where they will stay for 2 nights. Here is the conversation that Henry has with the hotel receptionist. Although the room is not what Henry was expecting, the receptionist offers him a solution.

Dialogue

Receptionist

Good afternoon. Can I help you?

Henry

Hello. I have a reservation for a quadruple room.

Receptionist

  What’s your name, please?

Henry

  Henry Samson.

Receptionist

You made your reservation online, didn’t you?

Henry

  Yes, I did.

Receptionist

First I will need your driver’s license or passport, please.

Henry

  Here you go.

Receptionist

Please sign here and I will show you to your room.

Henry

  Great, thank you.

Receptionist

This is it. Room 212. Here is your room key.

Henry

Oh, it’s very small. I don’t think this will be big enough for my wife and I and our 2 children. Have you got any bigger rooms for four?

Receptionist

No, but you could stay in two rooms that have an adjoining door.

Henry

That would probably be better. Could you show me them?

Receptionist

  Of course. Here they are.

Henry

Yes, these two rooms have a lot more space.

Receptionist

If you would like to stay in these rooms we will have to go back down to reception to change your reservation.

Henry

  Of course.

Receptionist

The two rooms for two nights will be $320. That is only $50 more than the quadruple one.

Henry

  Yes, that sounds fine.

Receptionist

Please sign here. And here are your two room keys.

Henry

Thank you. What time is breakfast served?

Receptionist

From 7 o’clock to 10 o’clock in our dining room at the end of this hall.

Henry

Great. Is it a buffet breakfast or do we order off the menu?

Receptionist

It’s a buffet breakfast, there are many hot and cold dishes served.

Henry

  Wonderful!

Receptionist

  Have a very nice stay.

Henry

  Thank you!
